Description: The
client, the owner of the Spa, wanted to provide
his clients with an area for relaxation both before
and after treatments.
The existing windows and doors were all at different
heights and a large feature window provided an additional
challenge to the overall design. Therefore a roof
with differing eaves levels was created, with the
design forming dormer type projecting sections.
The project was further hampered because of its
location, directly next to a bat cave, which meant
that in order to complete it, it had to be installed
within a specific twelve-week window whilst the bats
were still dormant.
The portal and the roof were manufactured from Ultraframe
components, which had to be specially designed, detailed
and fabricated due to the 50-degree roof pitch.
A&B Glass, Sudbury, Suffolk,
manufactured all the UPVC windows and doors along
with all the sealed
units both for the fenestration and the roof.
The Managing Director of the
Spa commented, “We
have been delighted with the work, the roof looks
beautiful and blends in perfectly with the 19th century
building”.
